Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a focal dilatation of the abdominal aorta to more than 1.5 times its normal diameter. AAAs are classified by location as either suprarenal or infrarenal aneurysms

RESULTS: Findings from serial follow-up CT and laboratory analysis performed in all patients and captopril renography performed in five of the patients who underwent juxtarenal stent-graft placement did not reveal impaired renal function or perfusion. CONCLUSION: Successful exclusion of abdominal aortic aneurysms located closer than 15 mm to the orifices of the renal arteries is possible with juxtarenal placement of the uncovered portion of the stent in the abdominal portion of the aorta.

OBJECTIVE: To describe a successful urgent endovascular repair of a juxtarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm with contained rupture. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS: A hybrid suite using a surgeon-modified fenestrated endovascular graft and advanced 3-dimensional imaging workstation. Traditionally, juxtarenal abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) are defined by an inadequate length of normal infrarenal aorta for both clamping and sewing below the renal arteries . Thus during open repair the proximal clamp must be placed above at least one renal artery. An aneurysm may be visible as an area of curvilinear calcification in the paravertebral region on either abdominal or lumbar spine radiographs.

The ment of the normal aorta (i.e. nonaneurysmal) of at stent grafts were attached with proximal uncovered least 15 mm (length) and less than 25 mm (width) below parts across the origins of the renal arteries. Juxtarenal: A Juxtarenal aneurysm is one that starts where the arteries to the kidneys come off the aorta as opposed to 95% of such aneurysms which have a "neck" or relatively normal segment of aorta below the renals. This makes open or endovascular repair more difficult. A short or otherwise suboptimal neck precludes the use of endovascular repair in 30% to 50% of patients with abdominal aortic aneurysms.

Most abdominal and thoracic aneurysms are detected on scans performed for other reasons.

Initial CT scans demonstrated aortic irregularity and non-specific soft tissue abnormality surrounding the juxtarenal aorta with differentials including aortic pseudoaneurysm and periaortic hematoma. The Indium-111 oxine-labeled leukocyte (111 In-WBC) study indicated a mycotic aortic aneurysm (MAA).
